St. Benedict + Lourdes Necklace
Item № 912MSC1
Italy, c. 1959 (St. Benedict); Lourdes, c. 1958 (connector medal in bleu)
Beautiful, silver medaille of Saint Benedict, with classic Benedictine cross emblems on both sides. Pendant is .8 inches in diameter. It hangs on a light-catching 925 silver box chain, with a drop connector Lourdes pendant. Necklace can be adjusted from choker length all the way to 24 inches. On the arms of the cross are the initial letters of a rhythmic Latin prayer: Crux sacra sit mihi lux. Nunquam draco sit mihi dux (May the holy cross be my light - May the dragon never be my guide). In the angles of the cross, the letters C S P B stand for Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti (The cross of our holy father Benedict). Saint Benedict of Nursia was a founder of Christian monastic communities and a rule giver for monks living in community. His purpose may be gleaned from his Rule, namely that "Christ may bring us all together to life eternal." He is patron saint of many things, especially warding off negative spirits.
Trésors blue pieces of vintage art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting and shipping is free within the U.S. on all items.
