Trésor Bleu Exclusive
Item No. C800.107
France, c. 1959
Beautiful, silver médaille surround of Saint Benedict in two shades of bleu enamel, with classic Benedictine cross emblem on the other side. Pendant is .7 inches in length and width at its longer points. It hangs on and adjustable silver chain with a bead drop, which can be lengthened to 24 inches from 14 inches, with a silicon ball. On the arms of the cross of Saint Benedict are the initial letters of a rhythmic Latin prayer: Crux sacra sit mihi lux. Nunquam draco sit mihi dux (May the holy cross be my light - May the dragon never be my guide). In the angles of the cross, the letters C S P B stand for Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti (The cross of our holy father Benedict). Saint Benedict of Nursia was a founder of Christian monastic communities and a rule giver for monks living in community. His purpose may be gleaned from his Rule, namely that "Christ may bring us all together to life eternal." He is patron saint of many things, especially warding off negative spirits.
Trésors blue pieces of vintage art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting and shipping is free within the U.S. on all items.
