Trésor Bleu Exclusive

Medal origin:   Italy, c. 1946

Miraculous Medal in two shades of vivid vitreous bleu enamel with relief image of Mary.  Verso features classic Miraculous Medal symbolism, with the 12 stars representing the 12 Apostles.  This medal was sold in mid-century Italy, likely at or near the Vatican or in Rome.   The Miraculous Medal (French: Médaille miraculeuse), also known as the Medal of Our Lady of Graces, is a devotional medal, the design of which was originated by Saint Catherine Labouré following her apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Rue du Bac, Paris, France.  According to the teaching of the Catholic Church, the use of sacramentals such as this medal prepares people to receive grace and miracles.Surrounded by cloissoné enameling technique where 'windows' of enamel are separated by metal, in this case copper-coated silver.  Dark surround is silver/brass alloy and has dark patina, interior appears to be 800 French silver.  Pendant is .85 inches in diameter, about the size of a penny.

This is a rare and unique piece that will stand up to many more decades of prayer and wear.  Choose from silver chains.
