Authentic "Red Cross" Medaille from late 1800s
We love that our trésors have years of wear, years of prayer. We memorialize not only the American soldiers that sacrificed their lives in war but honor the women (and men) who bravely stepped up to care for them in their last days and hours. Here we have a French medaille (U.S. Ally) honoring the French "Red Cross" which was initially was the the "Secours aux blessés militaires," or "Rescue of Wounded Soldiers." Its roots were based on the Swiss organization formed in the 1300's, and the inspiration for the American Red Cross, founded by nurse Clara Barton in 1860 after visiting Europe.
The initials "S.B." stand for Secours Blessés, or "Help the Wounded."
All trésors are pre-packaged for gifting.
