Petit Saint Rita Necklace

Item No. 709SSC1

Origin:  Vendeville, France, c.  1958

Unique and and beautiful, pilgrimage medal from Vendeville France of Saint Rita.  The front features a teal blue silver-framed image of Saint Rita, with the reverse showing an image of Vendeville, one of the most famous Catholic pilgrimage locations next to Lourdes and Liseux, France.  Saint Rita, canonized in 1900, is the patron saint of abused women, as she was abused by her husband for 18 years. The Vendeville sanctuary in France attracts pilgrims all year long, but especially on Saint Rita's feast day, May 22. The necklace hangs from a 17 inch 14/20 gold chain, Italy.

Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art and devotion.  Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country.  The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD.  People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself.  The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.

All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting.
