Pendentif Violet Lourdes Necklace
Item № 5052MS
Origin: Lourdes, France, c. 1910-1920
Trésor Bleu Exclusive, rare, antique (over 100 years old)
Stunning dark cabernet and lilac round pendant medal dates to circa 1910-1920. It features the Holy Virgin Mary and also celebrates her apparition at Lourdes. On the front is a beautiful, serene image of Our Lady in a purple enamel roundel. Her head and shoulders are in in pale lilac shading to silver around her shoulders. This is a lovely contrast with the dark purple of the surround. The reverse also bears a pale lilac enamel image of the scene at Lourdes. It was here in the grotto that Our Lady appeared to Bernadette in 1858. At the top is a ring with the French mark for 800-900 quality silver. It hangs on an adjustable 1.1 mm wide twisted rope chain, 925 silver with rhodium finish to resist tarnishing. Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting.
