Notre Dame de L’Hermitage stands on the heights of Noirétable at 1100 meters altitude. It all began in 450 AD, in the heart of a tiny chapel in front of which flows a spring. In the twelfth century, the Virgin Mary appeared to a criminal, saying: “Go to confession to the Prior of Noirétable and come back do penance.” Thousands of pilgrims cometo this remote place to pray at the miraculous spring each year. A small church in 1669 that the first monastery was built in front of the huge rock. A larger church was built around 1740 and The Hermitage became the novitiate formation house for royal missionaries.
Classic image of Mary holding Jesus on the front, blank on reverse. Chain is adjustable up to 22" long, 925 silver with rhodium finish to resist tarnishing. Lobster clasp, made in Italy.
Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD.
People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting and shipping is free within the U.S.
