Nuestra Señora del Pilar Necklace
Item No. 705LGC9
Trésor Bleu Exclusive
Origin: Zaragoza, Spain, c. 1940
Beautifully preserved, rare, medal originally blessed in Zaragoza, Spain. Our Lady of the Pillar ( Nuestra Señora del Pilar) is the name given to the Blessed Virgin Mary for her miraculous appearance in Zaragoza, Spain at the time of the emergence of Christianity. Mary is often depicted carrying the Child Jesus on her arms resting above a pillar, sometimes carried by angelic cherubs. On this medal, 14k gold radiates from Mary and Jesus' heads. Under the title of Our Lady of Pillar, the Virgin Mary is invoked as the Patroness of Spain, the Spanish Civil Guard and the Hispanic world. Several Pontiffs have recognized both her title and image throughout the years.
This medal hangs from our most popular chain, which is adjustable from choker to 28 inches long. Drop is a silver bead. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
