Cadre Arrondi Lourdes Necklace
Item № 611MSS6
Origin: Lourdes, France, c. 1958
Trésor Bleu Exclusive
Substantial French Silver & Blue Enamel Our Lady of Lourdes Medal. It has stunning filigree open work, wrapped around a serene profile of a young Virgin Mary. Her image is under two shades of blue vitreous enamel—cobalt blue enamel background and sky blue enamel that outlines and fills her image. The reverse bears a depiction of the Marian apparition with young Bernadette kneeling before Our Lady in the Grotto at Lourdes, 1858, perfectly preserved. The medal was blessed at the 100th Anniversary at Lourdes in 1958. Measures .7" in diameter. The top loop is marked with a French assay punch or stamp mark, indicating at least 800 silver. Unique, very rare, medaille. The large pendant is set on our most popular adjustable chain, which means it can be worn as a choker (16 inches or less) all the way up to 22 inches: see attached photos for length perspectives.
Trésors blue are beautiful pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting.
