Grotto of Lourdes Necklace
Item № 615MGS1
France, c. 1958 - 100th Anniversary of the Apparition
Beautiful pendant medal in a elongated gold vermeil openwork surround. The front is a perfectly-preserved image of the original Apparition at Lourdes, which occurred in 1858 with Saint Bernadette as the 14 year old witness. The reverse is blank. No visible tarnishing and will stand up to many more years of prayer, years of wear. This medal is .5 inches in diameter and .6 inches in height. The necklace hangs from a light-catching 16 inch 14/20 gold filled gold chain, Italy. See pictures for size references.
Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope and faith since 200 AD.
People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting.
