Trésor Bleu Exclusive - Rare
Stunning deep blue oval portrait medal with Our Lady on the front with gorgeous tones of deep cobalt blue and teal blue. The medal is surrounded by intact marcasites, typical of the era. The reverse is a perfect image of the original Apparition at Lourdes, which occurred in 1858 with Saint Bernadette as the 14 year old witness. Note: This medal has signs of wear in missing stars and reverse chips but still gorgeous with its years of wear and years of prayer. Priced accordingly. This medal is .78 inches in height, .7 inches at its widest across. The medal was sold and blessed at Lourdes in 1941. It hangs on a twisted rope silver chain that is adjustable from choker length (less than 16 inches) all the way up to 22 inches. See images for size versatility. Chain made in Italy. Trésors blue are pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD.
People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
