Joan of Arc Pendant - Mid-Century French
Origin: French, Mid Century
French vintage pendant featuring relief image of St. Joan of Arc on the front. Reverse features a French cross symbol with the words (translated into English) "God protects France." With no military training, Joan convinced the embattled crown prince Charles of Valois to allow her to lead a French army to the besieged city of Orléans, where it achieved a momentous victory over the English and their French allies, the Burgundians. After seeing the prince crowned King Charles VII, Joan was captured by Anglo-Burgundian forces, tried for witchcraft and heresy and burned at the stake in 1431, at the age of 19. By the time she was officially canonized in 1920, the Maid of Orléans (as she was known) had long been considered one of history’s greatest saints, and an enduring symbol of French unity and nationalism. A non-vintage fleur de lys, the symbol of French pride and the Trinity, accompanies the medal. Medal is .9 inches in diameter and hangs from you choice of chains.
Trésors blue are tiny pieces of art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. Blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting, and shipping is free within the U.S.
