Origin: Lourdes, France, c. 1951, France (small heart medal) 1953
One of a kind, one in stock
The intensity of the cobalt blues in these two medals epitomizes the "Marian" bleu, or color of Mary, that dates back to 200AD. The "Out of the World" Bleu was picked as the color of Mary because it was considered the most beautiful color in the world. This necklace has two small pendants, both radiating intense, cobalt, Marian bleu. The larger round medal (.4 inches in diameter) is two shades of bleu vitreous enamel and comes from mid-century Lourdes, France, where it was procured and blessed. It is surrounded by oxidized brass. The second medal is a small heart (4mm high) with Mary standing in prayer on one side, and Sacred Heart of Jesus is depicted on the other side. Both pendants are connected onto a 8mm closed ring. Choose from 16 inch, 18 inch, or a 20 inch chain.
Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD.
People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting and shipping is free within the U.S.
