Lourdes Rose Medal - mid-century French
Origin: Lourdes, France,
Trésor Bleu Exclusive
A beautiful tone of dark rose, in vitreous enamel. Strikes on bale show maker's mark, French authenticity, and silver quality (800). Mary in profile on one side, the original apparition at Lourdes depicted on the verso. Vitreous enameling is the mid-century French technique of melding glass on silver. The details and craftsmanship on this tiny .75 inch tall medal are so stunning. The Apparition at Lourdes occurred in 1858 with Saint Bernadette as the 14 year old witness.
It hangs on a rope, 14/20 gold filled chain, which catches the light beautifully. Choose from 16, 18, or 20 inches in chain length.
Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art, history, and devotion. Also known as Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting and shipping is free within the U.S.
