Half-inch French silver and blue enamel Our Lady of Lourdes medal. It has stunning Guilloché accents, in addition to 24K gold accents serving as halos around Mary on both sides of the medal. The shade of bleu is a turquoise ocean blue. The reverse bears a depiction of the Marian apparition with young Bernadette kneeling before Our Lady in the Grotto at Lourdes, from 1858. The medal was blessed at Lourdes, France c. 1940. Measures exactly .6 inches in diameter. The top loop is marked with a French assay punch or stamp mark, indicating at least 800 silver with a gold wash surround, which is fading slightly while the gold halos are not. This pendant is set on a unique bar and round link alternating design, 17 inches in length, 925 silver, lobster clasp. This is a stunning, rare piece. It also includes its original box, only 1.2 inches wide, showing it's origin at the Vatican, through Lourdes.
Trésors blue are beautiful pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. The deep "ultramarine" blue is the sacred color of Mary, representing truth, hope, and faith since 200 AD. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
All trésors bleu are pre-packaged for gifting.
