1939 Communion Necklace
Item no. LS03231
Trésor Bleu Exclusive
Medal origin: Lyon, France, May 28, 1939 (as engraved)
This stunning 1.2 inch wide and tall cross pendant is a perfectly-preserved silver image of a chalice with silver openwork "fleur de lis" imagery surround. Originally given to a child at first Communion May 28, 1939, four months prior to the start of World War II, this pendant is still beautiful, with a beaded drop, .3 inches. On the front is a Sacred Chalice, which still has some of its copper patina against the high-quality silver. The medal has original engraving on the reverse, "28 Mai, 1939," or May 28, 1939, with the initials, GM, or MG. The chain is a sturdy, 925 silver, rounded square rope style, 1.1mm thick, with a lobster clasp and is 17 inches long. An elegant, vintage, understated, timeless piece.
