Saint Rita et Croix Necklace
Item № B600.106
Origin: Vendeville, France, c. 1940
Unique and and beautiful pilgrimage medal from Vendeville France of Saint Rita. The front features a relief image of Saint Rita, the reverse the words, in French: Sainte de Impossibles PPN, or, Saint of the Impossible (causes), Pray for Us. Pope Leo XIII canonized Rita on 24 May 1900. At her canonization ceremony she was bestowed the title of Patroness of Impossible Causes, but for most, Rita came to be known to be as the patroness of abused wives and heartbroken women. Her feast day is May 22. Medal is .5 inches in diameter. Stamp on bale shows French authenticity. High quality silver, just polished, will stand up to many more years of wear and prayer.
The necklace hangs from your choice of 14/20 gold filled chain (16, 18 or 20 inch), paired with a drop ring and a small gold vermeil modern cross (not vintage). Trésors blue are tiny pieces of French art and devotion. Also known as "Médailles De Pelerinage" or "Medals of Pilgrimage," these little medals have had voyages from another generation, another life, another country. People of faith still undertake pilgrimages as a way of deepening their religious devotion, seeking miracles, spiritual healing, forgiveness, or for the journey itself. The experience is not solely about reaching the end, it is about what is endured, enjoyed, and learned along the way.
